BRIEF HISTORY
Todd was the son of superhero Sentinel and villain the Thorn. Unfortunately for him, his mother never told his father
that she was pregnant and, unstable as she was, her twins were given in adoption. Separated from his twin, Jade, he was raised in an abusive foster home. James Rice was an alcoholic who beat him in a regular basis. Hence, he had a hard
childhood.
In addition, at one point he manifested superpowers, most likely because of the exposure of his father to green radiation.
He seemed to be able to turn into a living, three-dimensional shadow. In such a state, he could pass through walls and people,
but also to see the darkness in them. As Obsidian, Todd had great strength, but was sensitive to intense light.
Obsidian became a member of Infinity Inc and, briefly, a Justice League member as well. However, he soon retired. His
experiences with the dark side of humanity had depressed him. He had also became unstable. Thus, he became an easy prey for
criminal Ian Karkull. Ian was trapped in the dimension of darkness that Todd was related to and he talked to him to make him
believe he was alone against humanity. He increased his hate and fear until Todd decided to react. First, he attacked his
foster father and then it was the turn of Seattle. The JSA tried to fight him, but he was too strong. Even Karkull, who believed
to control him, had been fooled by Todd. Todd was darkness itself. In the end, his own father had to kill him. With his last
breath, Todd tried to take Sentinel with him into the darkness, but James Rice replaced him to purge his former actions.
