Once, the Green Lantern Corps -- created by the Guardians of the Universe -- were the strongest protectors of the cosmos.
When one of their own, Hal Jordan, absorbed the energy of the Main Power Battery, the Corps was no more. The sole surviving
Guardian, Ganthet, chose freelance artist Kyle Rayner to be the bearer of the only power ring left. He became the last Green
Lantern. |
| |
Whereas the ring once had a 24-hour energy limit and a vulnerability to anything yellow, Kyle's ring has no such limitations.
The rings serves as a focus for Kyle's imagination and is able to instantly create anything he dreams up. Still learning about
the power he commands and in awe of the company he keeps as a member of the JLA, Kyle's enthusiasm and boundless imagination
far outweigh his relative inexperience. |
| |
The ring must be recharged periodically from
a lantern-shaped battery, a remnant of the Main Power Battery. The duration of the charge depends on how much Green Lantern
uses the ring. Kyle can sense when the ring is running out of juice. He can make permanent objects with his ring, but it takes
a tremendous amount of willpower and energy. |
