An artificial lifeform, Matrix/Supergirl is the only survivor of a pocket universe destroyed by super-powered criminals. Once romantically linked to Lex Luthor, Supergirl eventually discovered his evil nature and put an end to his scheme to create an army of Supergirl clones. Recently, she has settled in the town of Leesburg, where she has taken on the identity of Linda Danvers -- in more ways than one.

Besides possessing super-strength, Supergirl can levitate herself and other objects, generate psychokinetic blasts or force fields, and create cloaking shields which render her invisible. At one time, Supergirl's shape-shifting abilities allowed her to morph into virtually any human form (she has even assumed Superman's identity), as well as use them to reflect her current mood. However, due to her recent merging with Linda Danvers, her shape-shifting powers seem to be limited to morphing back and forth between her Supergirl form and Linda's.
